Belek Sueno Golf Hole by Hole Pines

THE BIG EASY

This medium par 5 is an easy par but a tough birdie hole. A long and generous fairway gives the player a chance to get the swing warmed up. A well protected green requires the player to have struck two good shots so that they might have a good chance of negotiating the two aggressive greenside bunkers. It is possible to drive this green in two but this would require two very long and accurate shots. For the brave, this is an opportunity for a great start and for the more conservative a good par hole.

UP AND OVER

A relatively easy par 4, only a poor drive might find the fairway bunkers short and left. The player must get as close to the lakes as possible to lessen the severity of the approach to the green and only a well struck mid-iron will hold this heavily contoured green.

LITTLE GEM

At just over 160 yards off the championship tees, this hole offers a picturesque shot over a lake to a peninsula green. The player has a commanding view of this par 3 and all its hazards. Be warned that for all its beauty. Little Gem will punish any shot that is too far left.

THE EQUALIZER

With four bunkers restricting the length of the tee shot, this par 4 puts the long and short hitters onto an even footing. A well played tee shot will give the golfer a shot in from the right-hand side of the faiway. The farther left the tee shot goes, the more difficult the greenside bunkers become. In the true traditions of strategy, the ideal combination would be a fading drive followed by a raking draw approach.

HOULSTONS’ FOLLY

Winner of a national competition, this innovative par 4 is the brainchild of Mark Houlston. A classic in terms of risk and reward, the fifth hole has a split fairway, the player can cut the corner on the left opening up the green or take the long, easy way round making the approach longer and yielding an awkward angle. In contrast to hole 4, the course is becoming a little more difficult. The horseshoe step will ensure that all who play this hole will remember it.

DIPPER

A beautifully sculpted par 4, the sixth is nestled in among majestic pine trees and first pours down the hillside and then rises spectacularly to an amphitheatre green. A birdie opportunity, this medium par 4 has six bunkers waiting to punish wayward shots whilst those brave enough can cut the dogleg and save precious yards from the approach.

THE COMMITMENT

This long par 3 requires a carry of 160 yards over water, the golfer requires absolute conviction otherwise a watery end is almost certain. A diagonal green with diagonal bunkers ensures that even the very best players will be satisfied with a par.

TWISTER

Hole 8 is a double dogleg monster of a par 5. From the tee, the golfer must avoid the bunker on the right and negotiate the ancient pine guarding the brow of the die hill. Once around the pine the second shot must be pinpoint accurate to set the approach for a narrow entry onto a green cosseted, by a pine forest.

LANDS END

Doglegging right, this long par 4 terminates with a peninsular green. With a high banking fairway to the left, a low draw will make the most of the undulations. The second shot will almost certainly have to carry water and it takes a steady nerve to negotiate this and the greenside sand traps.

FAIRWAY

A short par 4. the 10th hole will kick start the back nine. The wide and unguarded fairway forgives most tee shots, but the ideal line will be on the left-hand side. Most golfers will be left with a short approach to the exquisite, green, which is over hung by a veteran pine and surrounded by water. A birdie opportunity, the 10th is a player’s favourite.

LONG REACH

A straight and long par 4. the 11th hole invites the player to skirt the side of the bunker if they wish to open up the green to an inviting shot. Straying left on the tee compounds the problems of the subsequent shots.

VETERAN ALLEY

Set in among veteran pines, this rolling par plays onto a green surrounded by majestic trees. The aggressive player will skirt the waste bunker as much as they dare to increase the angle of opportunity to the green.

RUGGED VALLEY

Hewn through a valley, playing over a bunker and nestled among the pine forest, hole 13 is a visual delight. The tabletop green will welcome the traditional bump and run approach while repelling the aerial shot. Birdie hunters will welcome this hole.

TOROS SPLENDOURA

A glorious vista to the Toros Mountains greets the golfer on the 14th tee. A long and straight tee shot is required on this par 4 while a diagonal group of bunkers crosses the fairway, punishing weaker shots to the green. The closer you get to the bunker, the easier your approach will be.

SLUGGER

A mammoth par 5, hole 15 is surrounded on all sides by pines. The drive is wide open but the closer the golfer gets to the green, the tighter the fairway becomes until a bunker wraps around the front left of the approach. Only the very longest and straightest of hitters can hope to hit this in two.

PIN POINT

Playing over the bunker it shares with 15, hole 16 is a medium par 3 into a devilish two-tiered green; just don’t land on the wrong tier.

ROLLER COASTER

Playing from an elevated tee, hole 17 is a bumpy ride. A potential birdie opportunity for the bigger hitters, the ideal line is a draw followed by a fade to open up the approach and avoid the fairway bunkers. The generously contoured green will help a long approach hold the green.

MIRAGE

From the tee, the 18th is a visual illusion, giving the golfer the feelings that he has almost no space to land his drive. However, when he reaches his drive, he’ll find the space opens up. The farther right the golfer can place the drive, the better the approach into the green will be.

CHICANE

Hole 1 is an easy opening par 4. 1 sharp dogleg left. The intelligent approach is played directly at the mound to the right of the green, stunning the shot and letting it roll gently toward the pin. Finding the generous bunker will almost certainly add strokes to the card.

HERO

Fortune follows the brave on this classic par 4.Taking the easier, longer route around the central bunker in the fairway will only bring the greenside bunkers into play and display a narrow strip of the putting surface. However, those brave enough to play for the right-hand strip will not only gain length but will, have an unguarded approach into the green.

SCRATCH

This medium-length par 4 is dominated by the tiger claw bunker, which splits the tee shot, at the heart of its fairway. Doglegging right, the ideal position from the tee is on the left to open up the well-guarded green

THE TURTLE

A short par 3 skirted by water and surrounded by bunkers, hole 4 is all about symmetry. Anything less than a well-struck shot is sure to be rejected by the green.

EUCALYPTUS BARRENS

A long straight par 4, hole 5. Required a straight drive to avoid either the left waste bunker or the fairway bunker on the right. Approaching from the center of the fairway avoid a bunkered green requiring a straight shot to the center front.

HIDDEN DEPTHS

A breather hole, this par 4 hides a bunker far out to the right. Once the golfer plays through the valley, the entire hole opens up to an inviting green, which is set within a lake.

THE GUARD

Playing down to this par 3 presents a tough challenge thanks in no small part to a dominant Eucalyptus tree that is protecting the green, and if that isn’t enough, the green is surrounded on the right by water.

BEELINE

A difficult hole for the short hitter, the drive on the 8th has to carry water and avoid a further lake to the left and a fairway bunker to the right. The heavily shaped green requires a right-to-left shot otherwise the slope might just reject the shot.

LADY LUCK

What this short par 4 lacks in distance it makes up in the difficulty of the approach chip. A tight drive gives way to a lakeside green, the wise player will prefer the left-hand side of the fairway to avoid the carry over water.

BIG BREAK

This strategic hole asks for accuracy from the tee. Try to cut the dogleg too much and you bring the bunkers into play, play the dogleg too wide and the same will happen. If struck well, the player is rewarded with a commanding view of the green for the approach.

RAVINE

This short par 4 plays through a big valley. A shorter hole but by no means easy, it is heavily protect by a greenside bunker. Hole 11 has a tricky green but is still a great birdie opportunity.

KNIFE EDGE

Take a rest – this medium par 3 is an opportunity for a birdie, but to get there, you have to carry a cavernous bunker. Be wary of the pimple protecting the green’s entrance.

ALBATROSS

A medium par 5, this is an energy sapping hole. Shots on the right-hand, side run the risk of kicking farther right and finding the bunker. Should the second shot be short, it will then find water and the green is protected by diagonal bunkers, making it reachable in two but only with the very best of shots.

CROOKEDVALE

This dogleg par 4 is partially protected by mounding. A drive as close to the inside of the dogleg as possible gives the best angle into the green but the bunkers on the mound look very dangerous Don’t be put off.

BREATHTAKING

A medium par 4. this is a simple drive but the short shot will be heavily penalized by six strategic fairway bunkers. The danger isn’t over yet as the golfer is faced with one of the most difficult greens on the course.

BONANZA

This par 4 is short but its certainly not easy. With trouble on the left of the green, the player must hold the tricky green to realistically hope for a par. The longer hitters will be looking to hit this in one.

CONUNDRUM

A little harder – this tricky par 3 has hidden ground between the fairway bunker and the green, be sure to take plenty of club and stay away from the greenside bunker.

GOLDEN TELERKO

A great finishing hole, this medium strategic par 4 is a straight drive but plays to the greatest feature on the golf course – the island green, With the clubhouse in the background, this hole is difficult to forget and if you drop a shot in the lake, you wont be the first!
